Offerings.

It’s so lovely to have you here. Speaking of love, there are a lot of small things I love: hot tea, old art, bread and butter, rosehip jam, beeswax candles, a fabulous thrift find, love eyes, movie nights with my family, small lamps, the Enneagram (I’m a 4w3), the smell of kids fresh from the bath, someone holding my hand, good music. I also really love facilitating grief circles and being with others in the deep blue parts of ourselves. It feels very warm, authentic and comforting to me.

Grief is an integral part of the human experience—a journey that, while challenging and painful, offers us a pathway to transformation and personal insight. I use a heart-centered, non-therapeutic approach to navigating grief.

I offer group grief circles and one to one mentorships. You’ll find those below. You can find more about me here.

Mama Grief Circles

  • Grief can be a potent path back to life. The group journey offers a safe place where pain and loss can be welcomed and witnessed. The loss of a child is a deeply painful and transformative experience. Everything is impacted, from our sense of security, our spiritual, physical and mental health, our expectations of faith and hope, our outlook on the world and our creativity.

I work with tried and tested group practices that combine ancient wisdom with modern ethics.

When we learn to be creatively present with our grief, it takes great courage. However sharing in a group container, allows us to soften toward each other, reminding us we aren’t alone. It is sacred soul work.

In this facilitated Zoom circle, the guidelines in place allow for some sharing, but not an excess of input from others. This container with Michaela allows us to explore this territory of mama grief in communion with others, with an eye on time, details and the nuances that come with grief groups.

As mothers of children who have died, finding community around the world is a necessary and healing balm.

    • Facilitated by Michaela Evanow.

    • Maximum 10 participants.

    • 2 hours depending on number of participants

Currently, theses are offered online through Zoom.

Please sign up for updates on upcoming grief circles or email me to be placed on the waitlist.

  • Price is for each circle. Payment on a sliding scale, suggested $20-40 CDN per session.

Shorter sessions occur once the group is established.

Caregiver Companionship 1:1

  • As parent’s of children with complex disabilities or life limiting illnesses, we may not have the time and luxury to pursue in depth healing. The thought of making another appointment or leaving the house may be overwhelming. This online companionship will tend to parents who are caring for medically, fragile children. Witnessing your child’s pain is crushing. Despair may be a companion with you on this journey. And yet, the household may have other needs, and the busyness takes up much of our time. In my own live experience as a caregiver for my child, I needed and craved community where I would feel less alone. I simply didn’t know where to find circles or mentorship with others who knew this specific shade of grief. Sometimes we are not given the permission to grieve, and we have to “be strong.” This can lead to PTSD, dysregulation, compounded grief, anxiety and depression. What becomes normalized for us is often shocking for others: regular hospital visits, PICU admissions, exhaustion of advocating, lack of support, financial strain, issues in education, loss of family or friends who cannot be physically or mentally present in our world. Sometimes people leave us in our grief because it triggers their own fears.

The container will tend to the soft and vulnerable heart of a parent who cares for their child in such a unique way

Whether your child has a life limiting illness and prognosis or a disability that affects their lives every day, all are welcome here. There is no hierarchy of pain or comparison in this circle. We are tending to the emotions that we may not have had permission to accept. The grief of receiving a diagnosis. The despair at seeing our child suffer. The loneliness of caring for a sick or disabled child. The fear of the unknown. The agony of accepting palliative care.

Advocating, having faith, caring for others in the family may all be necessary things, but perhaps leave you feeling exhausted, depleted, and lonely at the end of the long day. How to befriend the grief when your child is right in front of you? And perhaps your other children need you?

There is good medicine in being with others. You are not alone.

    What you’ll receive:

-60 minute Zoom calls as needed.

-Writing exercises to ground you and stir your grief

-Embodied and creative exercises to soothe your grief

-Very intentional and caring companionship to drop in to what is arising for you.

  • This is an as needed mentorship for parents of medically fragile children, elderly parents, single parents or any caregiver who is experiencing living loss and grief due to lack of support, health changes, or overwhelm.

$100 CDN per 60 minute Zoom or phone call.

Memorial or Transition Session

  • This is a specific container for tending to the grief that may arise around a death anniversary, birthday or other notable date or after a life shifting event such as a divorce finalizing, a child leaving home, a job ending or a move.

    What you’ll receive:

    • 1 × 45 minute call to discuss the approaching date and stories around it.

    • 1× 90 minute Zoom meeting, including rituals for remembrance and closing, as well as storytelling and witness.

    • Tailored writing excersises and music for stirring and soothing memory, meditation or movement.

    • Very intentional and caring space to drop into what has passed and what’s next.

  • $250 CDN for this package.

If finances are an issue, please reach out via email. I’m happy to discuss other options.

But what is grief tending or grief mentorship, really?

The quick version: The grief tending container is different than friendship in that it has clear boundaries and clear capacity. My experiences do not override yours. You don’t need to protect me. It’s different than counselling in that it’s not entirely neutral. There is relational intimacy here, that many long for in their grief. My lived experience informs how I interact with grief, trauma and you.

Interested in 1:1 work?

I believe there is a longing in us all to find a relational home for our grief, a dwelling place for our intense memories. These parts of us need somewhere to settle. When we privatize our grief, we can feel so lonely and further isolate ourselves. When we are met in our grief, we can turn toward it, together.
